…I’m not gonna go down that road of “these two guys make more noise as a two piece than most bands with four or five members do!” I’m just not. I’ll be honest, that’s the first approach that came to mind, and according to most publicists it IS ‘Rocktober,’ but naw, can’t play that tired old card.
I will say that Greber make ENOUGH noise as a two piece, in that, you can’t really imagine anything being added to these sweet tracks…there is a sparse serenity to these heartfelt and wicked songs: great songwriting, mood and execution are the goals here. Fierceness and swagger take priority over noise and posturing. Melody and scope play as equal a role as aggression and heaviness. Feet firmly planted in a hardcore aesthetic, but without all those yucky and angry yell-y jocks. Power-Pop Violence? Pixies meets Bastard Noise? Like a sparred down Yob and Neuroisis at times, Lightening Bolt on Ritalin at others, ‘Kiln Hardened Psalms,’ is sure to delight and impress all fans of intelligent and real heavy music.
Hardened Psalms is about restraint, skill, emotion and the sound of two awesome dudes, one riding a bass like a surfboard, the other in a drum kit like a barrel, plunging down the steepest face of Mount Everest, sober but mad, screaming their way through the almost impassable barrier of snow, rock, trees, starving animals and unstoppable velocity.
